Would it really be OK to delete C:Windows\setuplog.txt? I would be very afraid to delete all txt files in Windows. Couldn't find recommendations on this using Google.

I guess one shouldn't delete desktop.ini in %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\config\systemprofile\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\*.*

Roll-back

I rolled back the recycler/recycled change; Windows XP uses "Recycler", while older versions of Windows apparently use "Recycled"; both are already listed.

Some applications use *.LOG files as records of their installation procedures, and parse the log file in order to uninstall. Rather stupid to put it in the Windows folder; as far as I'm concerned, only Windows stuff should go into the Windows folder, not app logs.

I tend to agree with your changes on the other things as well, and am going to edit the batch file accordingly.

What's wrong with deleting desktop.ini in "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\config\systemprofile\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files"? It should be no more earthshaking than deleting desktop.ini in other TIF or TEMP folders.

Most of the *.TXT files are documentation, installed with Windows. SETUPLOG.TXT is just the log of the original install of Windows, as you can see by checking the date and contents.

CCleaner

What about this?: CCleaner is not fully compatable with IE 7 yet. To avoid cookies being deleted don't run ccleaner at startup and untick "delete index.dat" in ccleaner windows.
